Directed by Linguswamy and Presented by Pawan Kumar ‘The Warrior’ is going to release on July 14 worldwide in Telugu and Tamil languages. Movie stars Ram Pothineni and Krithi Shetty in lead roles. Here is the transcript of the interview with The Warrior heroine Krithi Shetty.

‘Shyam Singh Rai’ in December, ‘Bangarraju’ in January… and now ‘The Warrior’… your films are releasing consecutively. how do you feel
‘Shyam Singa Roy’ and ‘Bangarraju’ were released soon after! So, there seems to be a big gap.

What did you feel after hearing this story? What is your feeling?
Saw Linguswamy’s ‘Aavaara’ in Tamil many years ago. I remember that movie. When Grandma goes to her house, she takes the CD of the movie. There were times when I saw it two or three times a day. I was very excited when mom told me that Linguswamy had called. Because… his movies are entertaining. Stories are new. Heroines have roles that have scope for performance. After hearing the story I was still excited.

The song ‘Bullet…’ became a massive hit. Reels, YouTube shorts… there is a range of reach. How did you enjoy while shooting?
I was feeling a bit nervous before starting the shoot. It takes a lot of energy to match Ram’s energy. But, once the shooting started, it went in a flow. I also enjoyed it. ‘Bullet…’ song class while ‘whistle…’ song mass. When I want extra energy, I put on a whistle song and dance. A bit more stylish is the ‘Bullet…’ song. The scenes before the songs are very good.

What is the story of ‘The Warrior’? What is your character in it?
My character in ‘The Warrior’ will be loved by everyone. Girl next door, cute roll. As soon as I heard the story I was connected. I hope the audience will also connect. When we see the movie, we think it’s the girl in our house or the girl next door. My character name is Vigil Mahalakshmi. That girl is RJ.

Your combination with Ram, how are the scenes in your combination?
Have you seen Bullet and Whistles songs? Everyone says our pair is good. The scenes are also good. Wait till the movie hits theaters. Can’t tell about the scenes now.

Ram has done police role. Yours is the role of RJ. How did love blossom between the two?
Kriti Shetty: A police station, a radio station… in the middle of a railway station! Maybe… love could have been born there.

Did RJ do any homework for the role?
Watched a lot of Telugu RJ videos. Even if the RJ is not visible when the voice is heard… the expression should be felt. I noticed that. Watched foreign RJ videos. Watched podcast videos.

Have you seen Ram’s movies before this movie?
See Andy. ‘Ismart Shankar’, ‘Ready’, ‘Hello Guru Prema Kosame’ – many more movies. I watched a lot of Telugu movies when I had to learn Telugu.

About working experience with Ram…
He is high energy. So, I felt a little nervous. But, he is very cool.

About director Linguswamy…
He clearly knows what he wants. Sometimes they show too much how to act. Voice modulation was also done.

About other roles in the film…
Adi Pinishetti played the villain role. I have no combination scenes with him. But… one day I went to the sets. He who is very soft on the outside… played a completely different role in the villain role. After Ram, more scenes were done with Nadia. They will be royal.

You are making your Kollywood entry with ‘The Warrior’. This is your first Tamil movie! Your feeling…
I am excited. From the time ‘Uppena’ got good appreciation from Kollywood and Tamil audience. Then I did not expect. Show so much love! It is a bilingual film and we shot it in Tamil as well. I hope the Tamil audience will also appreciate it. Now he is doing another Tamil movie. Surya is the hero in it. Naga Chaitanya and Venkat Prabhu are doing a movie. It is Telugu-Tamil bilingual. So, I am learning Tamil.

‘The Warrior’, a Naga Chaitanya-Venkat Prabhu movie… Srinivasa is making two movies back to back in Silver Screen Production House. About the producers…
Very nice production house. Instead of compromising, the movie was made as lavish and rich. For our producer Srinivasa Chittoori, cinema is love. He speaks less. They show that love in the cost of the film.

Did you find it difficult to shoot in two languages?
Ram worked harder than me. I lip sync, easy to match. Ram is not like that… He worked hard for every scene and dialogue.
