Shalini Kondepudi stills at Sing Geetham movie interview

For the Sing Geetham press interview, Shalini Kondepudi chose a look of effortless, understated elegance that felt entirely authentic to her warm, natural personality. She wore a beautifully crafted charcoal grey sleeveless kurta featuring a delicate all-over gold floral and botanical thread print — fine golden vine and lotus motifs worked in a scattered pattern across the dark fabric that catches the light with a subtle warmth. The kurta features a scoop neckline and a gently flared, mid-calf A-line silhouette, paired with wide-leg ivory palazzo pants with a fine gold trim at the hem — a clean, airy combination that balanced the dark charcoal of the kurta with a fresh, light base. She accessorised with classic gold jhumka earrings.

Shalini Kondepudi, one of the key cast members of the highly anticipated Telugu musical film Sing Geetham, sat down for an exclusive press interview ahead of the film's release, sharing fascinating insights into the film's groundbreaking concept, her own unique role, and what it was like to work under the legendary direction of Singeetham Srinivasa Rao.

How She Came Aboard — "I Immediately Wanted to Audition"

Shalini shared that her decision to pursue the role in Sing Geetham was driven by two powerful factors. She came on board after learning that the film featured a strong character with negative shades — a challenging villain role that immediately caught her attention. And once she learned the film was being directed by the legendary Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, her mind was made up. As she put it, once she heard it was a Singeetham film, she immediately wanted to audition — and eventually got selected. Her character, she explains, is a strong villain with multiple shades, one that audiences will get to see in an entertaining and distinctive new light.

The Film's Extraordinary Concept — A World Where Everything is Musical

Shalini was enthusiastic in describing the film's genuinely one-of-a-kind premise. Sing Geetham is not simply a film with songs — it is a film where music is the language of the world. Set in a fictional village called Kuberapuram, the story revolves around a fascinating central question: why do the people of this village communicate entirely through songs? Everything in the film is musical, she explained — even dialogues flow like songs. This is not a familiar cinematic convention but an entirely fresh, immersive world-building concept that has no direct precedent in Indian cinema. She confirmed that the team underwent several workshops before filming, with actors specifically trained to deliver spoken lines musically — a demanding and entirely novel performance skill that required genuine dedication from the entire cast. Calling it a completely original concept, she noted that the team had no cinematic reference point to rely on, and were guided entirely by the singular vision of Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and producer Nag Ashwin.
