Actress Samaira Sri turned up at the trailer launch of her upcoming thriller “Karmakhya” in a warmly radiant look that was equal parts festive and traditional — a golden mustard silk saree paired with a vibrant orange blouse and elaborate antique gold peacock jewellery. Against the trailer launch backdrop, the look felt ceremonial and grounded, very much in keeping with the film’s mythological thriller aesthetic.

Samaira Sri chose a beautiful golden mustard-marigold silk saree featuring a rich olive-green and dark gold woven border along the edges and pallu — an unusual but striking colour pairing that has deep roots in traditional South Indian textile aesthetics, particularly associated with festive and ceremonial sarees. The saree fabric had a natural tissue-silk lustre that shifted between a warm golden and a deeper mustard tone under different lighting, giving it a rich, ceremonial quality perfectly suited to a trailer launch with mythological undertones.

She paired the golden saree with a slightly deeper orange-amber elbow-sleeve blouse — a contrast tone choice that created a beautiful warm palette shift between the blouse and saree body. The blouse featured a defined V-neckline, giving the upper body a clean, structured shape that complemented the graceful drape of the silk saree. The orange-into-gold transition from blouse to saree is a classic traditional South Indian styling approach, particularly popular for Kanjivaram and festive silk saree pairings.

The standout element of the entire look was a spectacular pair of antique gold chandelier jhumka earrings — featuring a flat disc-top with a floral and gemstone motif, a peacock or bird element in the centre, and a dome jhumka base adorned with pearl drops and cascading pearl-chain tassels. The length and movement of the earrings, combined with their intricate antique detailing, gave the look a classical temple-jewellery quality entirely in keeping with the film’s sacred Kamakhya-inspired premise. A gold mesh or twisted gold bangle on the wrist completed the jewellery without adding clutter. No necklace — the statement earrings and the embellished blouse neckline together served as the jewellery anchor for the upper body, leaving the neckline clean.
Karmakhya is a thriller directed by Abhinaya Krishna, produced by Vaddepalli Sri Vaninath and Yashwanth Raj under My Film Productions Pvt. Ltd., and stars Samaira Sri alongside veteran actor Samuthirakani and Abhirami in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes Anand, Sharanya Pradeep, Vaishnav, Dhanraj, Raghava, and Aishwarya in significant parts, with music composed by Gyani and cinematography by Ramesh Kushender Reddy. Director Abhinaya Krishna has crafted a compelling story with fascinating thriller elements, while former MP Madhuyashki Goud was the chief guest at the film’s launch event. The film’s title — “Karmakhya” — draws from the sacred Kamakhya temple, one of the most powerful Shakti Peethas in India, invoking themes of divine feminine power, fate, and mysterious forces at work. The thriller appears to weave elements of supernatural and mythological tension into a contemporary narrative — a genre that has been growing in popularity across South Indian cinema. The release date is yet to be officially announced by the makers.
