With her remarkable performances and undeniable charm, south Indian film actress Rashi Singh has carved a niche for herself in the world of cinema. In interview with You and I magazine, Rashi Singh talks about her journey, her experiences, and the essence of her craft, unravelling the facets that make her a force to be reckoned with.
Can you tell us about your journey from being an air hostess to becoming a Tollywood actress? What inspired you to make this transition?
I have always wanted to be an actor, right from my childhood days. Whenever someone asked me, including my teachers at school, about my future aspirations, my response was consistently that I wished to be an actress. My mother had aspirations of becoming an actress in her young days too. However, she eventually got married, and the times were quite different back then. Consequently, she had the same aspirations for me.
I began my journey gradually. Around the age of 14 or 15,
I embarked on minor modelling gigs, participating in photo shoots, and engaging in various local activities within my hometown. Subsequently, a friend of mine became an air hostess and she convinced me to join the same profession because it gave the opportunity to explore and hone your abilities. So, I thought, alright, gaining independence should come first, and after that, I could make any choice regarding my future. It was never my intention to burden my family by insisting on pursuing a specific career path or demanding to move to Bombay to chase an acting career. So as soon as I turned 18, I applied for the job and became an air hostess, this allowed me to be independent and be able to make my own decisions. However, six months into my job as a cabin crew member, I found myself lacking job satisfaction. Despite traveling and staying in beautiful locations, and visiting great sites. That’s when I realised that I had to take a risk at that moment and try to work towards my dream. I quit my job, and shortly after, an opportunity presented it self which I seized. That’s exactly how I landed my first movie role. You can call it luck, fate, or destiny, but I manifested it and worked hard to get it.
