Singer Swagatha S Krishnan is an Indian playback singer & Music Composer who has performed in hundreds of shows with legendary singers. She was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu and has a sister Maya S. Krishnan who is also a singer.

“Music is my saviour. Music stayed as my lifeline and helped me get through major heartbreaks. Music brought me work and friends. I attribute my life to it. It started when I was barely starting to talk My guru, the late Srimati Vijayalakshmi Ramaseshan was more like my grandma. I use to sit in her class with my elder sister and sing along. I then started learning short Bharathiyar songs to sing in school competitions and that’s how it started.”, she says.

Swagatha defines herself as “I am a rare combination. I play cricket, I run marathons, I fight bullies on the road and then I get in front of the mic and sing love songs and lullabies. And I just adore the way how much of a woman I am. My femininity is what keeps me balanced in my head and helps me focus. It helps the artiste in me with the right emotions. And all this, while speaking my mind every single time!”, she says.

Asking about her favourite memories from musical journey she says, “I was 16 and I won a national gold in a Carnatic meet. All the golds I brought home after every competition. My first experience singing on television. My first playback song. My first big break. My first time on stage with Yesudas, SPB and KS Chithra. So much to recollect! I’m truly blessed.”
“Adiyathe is my first independent single. I composed, sang and performed as an actor in the music video. I’m so thrilled about the reception it got from so many people in the cinema industry and also from my fans. I have always believed in how independent music is going to be the future. The freedom lies there.
