Shivani Nagaram stills at Hey Balwanth movie interview

Following the blockbuster success of her recent outings, Tollywood actress Shivani Nagaram is once again making waves ahead of her upcoming comedy entertainer. The film, originally heavily promoted as Hey Bhagawan, recently hit a massive roadblock when it was forced into a sudden title change just days before its theatrical release. Now officially titled Hey Balwanth, the movie is still set to hit screens on February 20, 2026, but the behind-the-scenes drama has certainly caught the industry's attention. During a recent promotional interview, Shivani finally shed light on the censor board controversy, her reunion with co-star Suhas, and her strategic plans to expand her footprint into Tamil cinema.

Shivani Nagaram looked effortlessly beautiful during her recent interview for the movie Hey Balwanth. She chose a breezy, peach-colored ethnic outfit featuring a delicate mirror-work border along the neckline. Styled with loose, voluminous waves and a soft, natural makeup look, Shivani’s appearance perfectly captured a fresh and youthful charm.

The CBFC Controversy and the Last-Minute Title Change

The sudden transition from Hey Bhagawan to Hey Balwanth left many fans confused, especially after weeks of extensive promotions and quirky marketing campaigns under the original name. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) raised strong objections when the film was submitted for clearance. According to the regulatory board, using the word "Bhagawan" (which translates to God) as the title for an out-and-out comedy film could potentially hurt religious sentiments and invite unnecessary controversy from certain groups.

Rather than engaging in a prolonged back-and-forth battle with the certification authorities, the production team chose pragmatism over protest. To ensure the February 20 release date remained completely intact, they quickly agreed to rename the movie Hey Balwanth. Despite the significant marketing setback of rebranding just four days prior to the premiere, the team has maintained a positive outlook. They released a statement assuring audiences that while the title has changed, the entertainment remains entirely untouched. Directed by Gopi Atchara, the film is promised to be a clean, non-controversial family entertainer revolving around a hilarious yet emotional father-son relationship, with Shivani bringing a perfect mix of innocence and comedy to her leading role.

Quality Over Quantity and the Big Tamil Debut

Beyond the censor board hurdles, Shivani is laser-focused on charting a highly selective and meaningful career path. Rejecting the traditional route of signing back-to-back movies just to stay visible, she firmly believes in prioritizing quality scripts over sheer quantity. The actress has openly stated that she would rather do five excellent films than a hundred forgettable ones, aiming to build a brand where audiences inherently trust her choice of stories.

This meticulous approach is now guiding her expansion into neighboring film industries. Proving that Telugu actresses are steadily finding their well-deserved space across the South, Shivani confirmed that she is currently in advanced discussions for two major Tamil projects alongside two new Telugu films. While keeping the specific details and her co-stars for the Tamil movies under tight wraps for now, her entry into Kollywood is highly anticipated. Expanding her horizons not just as an actor but potentially utilizing her trained background in classical dance and singing, the multi-talented star is clearly positioning herself as a pan-South Indian talent to watch out for.
