Priyanka Jawalkar stills from ‘Taxiwala’ movie

Actress Priyanka Jawalkar seems to be turning heads even before her debut film with Vijay Deverakonda, Taxiwala, releases. The Maharashtrian girl, who hails from Anantapur, has landed a biggie in Kannada opposite one of the reigning superstars, Puneeth Rajkumar. “The makers were looking for a fresh face and Priyanka felt like the perfect choice. Producer Rockline Venkatesh apparently saw several profiles before zeroing in on her name. Priyanka has had a long wait for her first film’s release and is quite excited to have got such a big break,” shares a source.

Priyanka Jawalkar, though a Maharashtrian was born and brought up in Anantapur but has now made Hyderabad her home. She had developed interest acting very early. “I developed interest in acting when I saw Jeans. I was so mesmerised by Aishwarya Rai and her huge gowns that I went to my mom and asked her what I should be studying to become like her. I was around six years old, she was so smart she said that I should be a topper. I took her seriously and worked hard,” she laughs.
She was approached for roles in the films after she had uploaded a few of her photos on social media. Her mother was very keen that she finish her B.Tech, which she did. Immediately after that she got an offer to do two short films. According to Priyanka, she earned recognition for a short film and now she is receiving several offers for movies. She added, when Rahul was doing his first film, he wanted to cast her but unfortunately as she was going to the US that time, she lost the chance but finally, once again she got the opportunity to work with Rahul and it will be my first film with him. Earlier she has acted in a short film named MR. Productions ‘Possessiveness‘, which gets her a good name.
Priyanka Jawalkar added, “I never thought I’d be an actor but now that I have taken this project up with Vijay, and I am very committed. This is what I want to do.” The film revolves around a cab, cabbie and an experiment that goes wrong in the movie. Priyanka will be seen playing Anu, a bubbly girl- a doctor
