'Pedakapu-1' is a new age political thriller directed by sensible director Srikanth Addala starring young talented Virat Karna. Miryala Ravinder Reddy has ambitiously produced this film on Dwarka Creations, who gave a blockbuster with 'Akhanda'. The promotional content of the film is getting a tremendous response. The trailer released just like this has increased the expectations of the movie. Pragati Srivastava, who played the heroine in the film, shared her experience in a press conference in the background of the release of the film on September 29.
What did you feel when you heard the story of Pedakapu 1?
When Srikanth told the story of Pedakapu, I liked it very much. It was very catchy with good suspense from the beginning to the end. The story of Pedakapu is very interesting.
How did you get into this project?
‘Pedakapu’ is a reintroduction for me. Earlier I did a movie called Manucharitra. Then came covid. So I came to Mumbai. Later I auditioned for this film and got selected.
What is your role in this?
My role in Pedakapu is very important. Not only my character but almost all the characters in it are very important in the story. I have seen director Srikanth Addala’s films. The heroine roles in his films are very strong. My role is very important in this too.
How did you feel doing a raw rustic film like Pedakapu?
I am just taking steps as an actress. Doing such challenging roles gives me joy as an actress. I did not think that I will do such a rural role with such ease. This role came very naturally. This credit goes to director Srikanth. This character has all the emotions.
What were the challenges you faced while shooting?
There are no major challenges. Because we did the workshop earlier. We have researched beforehand. The styling team also did a fantastic job. Srikanth has said clearly about each role beforehand. He knew what the character was doing and got a chance to live in it. The direction team has done a lot of hard work.
How was it working with Virat Karna?
Virat Karna is a very supportive costar. His character’s journey in this movie is amazing. Everyone connects in that role. His performance is brilliant.
Is there family encouragement to enter the industry?
Not at all at first (laughs). I studied Law and Public Policy. Also a bit introverted. (Laughs) There was no film atmosphere at home since childhood. After saying that he will go to movies, he initially said that he doesn’t want everything at home. I even cried for two days (laughs). Finally I told my father that I will sign the contract. “What will we do after signing.. Chey what you like” he said (smiling). But I focused on studying to continue acting. ‘I will get a good rank. I said at home that you should not let me work. I have balanced both acting and studies. Got a good rank. Also they at home were happy to see me as an actress on hoardings.
Who inspires you as an actress?
I like Samantha’s movies. I also like some of Taapsee’s movies. Very good stories are chosen. I also like Trisha’s movies.
Which hero would you like to work with in Telugu?
There are many people. To name three.. Varun Tej wants to work with. Also Ram Charan. His performance on stage is amazing. Also wants to work with Prabhas.
