Krithi Shetty is going places in her short career. She plays a crucial role in Bangarraju. Here is the transcript of a detailed interview with Krithi.
Tell us about the feedback for your bold role in Shyam Singha Roy?
Uppena was a different experience. I was curious as to how the audience will receive my role. But not one person felt vulgar and the audience gave me confidence that I can do all sorts of roles.
What attracted you to this role?
The moment Kalyan Krishna started narrating the script and role, I thoroughly enjoyed it and laughed a lot. As the team and project are huge, there was no way not to sign the film. When I listened to the story, I was bewildered by the naivete of my character. She is an entertaining, fun woman who wants to be a village sarpanch. This is a new sort of character. I got to use Telugu words that I didn’t know of before. It was a learning experience.
Your role?
I play a village Sarpanch in the film. It is a very funny character and you will see me in a new avatar. Also, I had a tough time playing it as there were hard Telugu lines and slang which was hard to pick.
Tell us about Your Telugu speaking
Thanks to doing Telugu films and also watching Telugu movies, I have become relatively fluent. I like to dance and I got the opportunity to dance with joy in ‘Bangarraju’. My character has a lot of importance and more relevance to the story than my character had in ‘Shyam Singha Roy’.
Working experience with Nag and Chay Akkineni?
When I signed the film, I was quite intimidated by Nag sir and Chay and how they will deal with me. But both the father and son welcomed me so nicely. In one word both the father and son are perfect gentlemen. Nag sir doesn’t take even a second to transform into his character as soon as he is in front of the camera. He has shown flamboyance and the ‘pogaru’ of the character. Ramya Krishna garu is a mesmerizing actress. I like her so much. She looks beautiful and cute. I have got no combination scenes with her.
What drew you towards acting?
I am a psychology student and was doing Ads. I loved being in front of the camera and am living my dream here. Before coming into movies, I did commercials. Thanks to ‘Uppena’ and the love showered upon me by the audience, I landed an important film like ‘Bangarraju’. It was like a breeze. I didn’t get jittery. Director Kalyan garu might have gone through pressure but he didn’t show it.
Dealing with the third wave of Covid?
Covid is quite serious and once in a while, there is nothing wrong with slowing down and taking care of ourselves. This is also a phase and things will be better for sure.
Future projects?
I am doing different roles and feel so lucky. With each film, I am learning a lot. As of now, I am doing Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali, Macherla Niyojakavargam, and RAPO19.
