Anu Emmanuel saree stills at Shailaja Reddy Alludu Interview.
Anu Emmanuel awaits the release of ‘Shailaja Reddy Alludu’ on Sept 13. In this interview, the beauty talks about her role in the movie, working with Naga Chaitanya and Ramya Krishna, how she sees failures and more.
Here is the transcript of conversation with Anu Emmanuel.
Your character in ‘SRA’ is being portrayed as an egoistic one. To add to it, even your mother’s character is alike. How is your character in this film different from the ones you have played before?
My character’s name in the movie is Anu. She is a bit egoistic, she is also a bit grumpy. I was a calm girl in my previous films. But in this one, I am rude and loud. Initially, my name in the movie was Janaki. Since my name in ‘Kittu Unnadu Jagratha’ was also Janaki, the director changed it to Anu.
How close is the egoistic Anu to the real Anu Emmanuel? Are you so different or much the same in real life?
I must say I am a bit egoistic in real life. And I do get angry at times. That said, I am not so egoistic as I am in this film. The similarity is only limited.
You dubbed your own voice in ‘Agnyaathavaasi’. Have you repeated that for ‘SRA’?
No, I haven’t dubbed my voice for this film.
Your movies like ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ and ‘Naa Peru Surya’ have flopped this year. Has that affected you?
When a film flops, I do feel sad about it. I get nervous before the release of my movie. It’s true that I feel sad about failures.
How was it working with Ramya Krishna, a senior actress?
As you know, I am her daughter in the movie. I used to shiver whenever she would arrive on sets. But in front of the camera, she as so different. She is a friendly person. While most of us carry the dialogue paper to the home, she doesn’t do that. No matter how long the dialogue in a scene is, she will read it on sets and enact it after 2 minutes!
She is considered an evergreen face. She has been around for long and is still looking healthy. Did she give you any glamour tips?
No, she didn’t. I too didn’t’ ask her for any. She would tell me that one shouldn’t be let down by flops as we are mere instruments.
How was it working with Naga Chaitanya?
He is the most down-to-earth person I have ever worked with. He is very easy to work with as a co-star.
Wasn’t ‘Geetha Govindam’ meant for you?
It’s true. I was offered that film even before ‘Arjun Reddy’ was out and before I started doing ‘Naa Peru Surya’. I gave the nod but couldn’t do the film because I couldn’t accommodate dates. I have heard the film has become a big hit but I am yet to watch it.
What is the criteria that you follow for accepting a movie? Some of the choices could have been right but they proved to be wrong! How do you see them?
It has to be both commercial and should give scope for performance. When ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ came to me, I could have just said yes because Pawan Kalyan garu and Trivikram Srinivas garu were there. But I did listen to the story. I had said that I wouldn’t do it if it’s something akin to Pranitha’s role in ‘Attarintiki Daredi’. Trivikram garu told me it will be on a par with Keerthy Suresh’s. Keerthy has delivered a blockbuster with ‘Mahanati’. Just one film can change your fate. Shruti Haasan didn’t have hits in the beginning. One has to be patient.
What are your upcoming movies?
I am not in a hurry to accept a new movie even as a film is on sets. I will take my next step after ‘SRA’ hits the screens on Sept 13. I am listening to good scripts in Tamil. Offers are coming in Malayalam as well. Hyderabad is like my home now. I want to focus on Tollywood more.
