Mass Ka Das Vishwak Sen continues to rise in fame due to his versatility and dedicated performances. His latest project is an intense gangster drama titled “Gangs of Godavari,” set to hit the big screens on May 31. The film, written and directed by Krishna Chaitanya, features actresses Anjali and Neha Shetty in the lead female roles. The movie’s popularity is further amplified by its music, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, respectively, “Gangs of Godavari” also has Venkat Upputuri and Gopichand Innumuri as co-producers, with Srikara Studios presenting the film. Actress Anjali recently shared insights about the movie in a media interaction. Here are some highlights with Actress Anjali interview:

“You will see me in a massy avatar, and I even used some cuss words. When Chaitu (the director) first narrated the script to me, I was curious about the use of cuss words. I thought they might get censored, but it turns out everyone is talking about it now. I loved my character’s design. I asked Chaitu why he wanted me for this role since many people see me as the girl-next-door, calm and sweet. My role in ‘Gangs of Godavari’ is completely different from anything I’ve done before. Our director was looking for a performance-oriented actor and had confidence in me. I’m happy with the positive response so far.”

“I always wanted to take on challenging roles. As an actress, doing the same kind of role repeatedly can get boring. I was looking for something different, and this role provided that opportunity. My character in this film stands out. The way she speaks, looks, and behaves is completely different from my previous roles. I went without makeup for this film. Since it’s set in the 80s, we experimented a lot.”

“It took time to get into the shoes of Rathnamala, and I worked very hard for the role. Rathnamala is a complex character who reacts to everything. I often took Rathnamala’s character home with me, which was tough. This is the mass version of Sita from ‘Sithamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu.’ Rathnamala is pure-hearted, very loving, and caring. Although I have the Godavari accent by birth, in ‘Gangs of Godavari,’ we don’t use the typical Godavari accent. Instead, we speak the Lanka side dialect, which is different and not used in everyday conversation. It was challenging, even during dubbing.”

“Vishwak and I share a connection in the movie. Even our characters’ names are interlinked—Rathnamala and Rathnakar. You’ll understand once you watch it in theaters. In this movie, Vishwak is loud, and I am even louder. My character demands it. Vishwak and I were friends before doing this movie, which made working together very comfortable. Just like our characters, we were loud on set. ‘Gangs of Godavari’ had a fun-filled atmosphere. Personally, I enjoy talking to other actors, and the set had a great vibe, making it a fun experience. Up until now, we’ve seen Vishwak in city boy roles, but this movie will change that image. He also adopted the Godavari accent.”

“Chaitanya delivered exactly what he narrated, which is a rare quality. Some directors write one thing and show something else on screen, but Chaitanya stayed true to his script. This will be a significant break for Krishna Chaitanya. ‘Gangs of Godavari’ is a mass entertainer that audiences will enjoy in theaters.”

“This movie features two heroines, with Rathnamala, Rathnakar, and Bujji being three distinct characters, each with its own set of emotions. There is definitely going to be a second part of this movie, and discussions for it are already underway.”
